A routine shaped byyour terrain, right now

Choose your lifelong elemental balance and the energetic pattern that fits the last few months. The plan below combines both: a steady baseline diet and rhythm, adjusted for what is out of balance today. Educational tradition, not diagnosis or treatment.

Your lifelong elemental balance (dosha)

Your current pattern (last 30–90 days)

Vata baseline

Warmth, oil and rhythm settle a mobile, airy terrain. Air and ether. Creative, quick and mobile — steadied by warmth, oil and routine.

On the table

Favour

  • Warm cooked breakfasts — porridge, stewed fruit, soft grains
  • Soups, broths and one-pot meals eaten slowly and seated
  • Ghee, olive oil and tahini added generously to each plate
  • Sweet, sour and salty tastes: root vegetables, dates, citrus, sea salt
  • Warm water or ginger tea sipped through the day

Ease off

  • Cold salads, iced drinks and dry crackers as a whole meal
  • Skipping meals or eating while walking and scrolling
  • Caffeine on an empty stomach

Daily rhythm

Morning

  • Wake at a consistent hour and sit for five slow breaths before rising
  • Warm oil massage on feet, hands and belly, traditionally used to steady the nervous system
  • Eat within an hour of waking

Midday

  • Take the largest meal at noon, unhurried and away from a screen
  • A short walk after eating rather than a hard workout

Evening

  • A warm, oily, grounding dinner before eight
  • Screens down an hour early; lights low and warm
  • Same bedtime each night — regularity matters more than length

Self-care

Traditionally used

  • Yin yoga, gentle strength or walking instead of high-intensity intervals
  • Alternate-nostril breathing for five minutes when scattered
  • Weekly warm bath with sesame oil and salt

Adjust for Balanced

Nothing is shouting. Keep the rhythm you have and eat with the season.

Add this season

  • Seasonal produce and a variety of colours each week
  • Regular meal times

Pull back on

  • Erratic sleep and long stretches without food

Shift your rhythm

  • Keep one restful day a week
  • Adjust clothing and food warmth as the season turns

Where the two lists disagree, follow the current-pattern column for the next few weeks, then return to your baseline rhythm as things settle.
